Travis Kelce believes his growing beard is helping him play better football.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end is currently preparing to face off against the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl on Sunday in Las Vegas, and his beard has become notably full in recent weeks.
Speaking on the New Heights podcast he hosts with his brother, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, the conversation turned toward facial hair.
“Dude, what is going on with the beard right now by the way?” Jason Kelce asked about his brother’s “yeti”-like facial hair.
“Were growing it,” Travis said. “Putting in that work.” The two-time Super Bowl champion said he hasn’t trimmed his beard since before Christmas. Since embarking on a romance with Taylor Swift last year, Travis Kelce has been photographed more than ever, and his beard has been steadily gaining attention as it grows.
Jason asked whether it’s a playoff beard or instead an ode to your hockey roots.
“My hockey roots,” Travis said. “Its also an ode to just like, the ups and downs of the season.” He also shared that he feels rugged when he looks in the mirror now.
“Like Ive been working for something,” he explained. “Like Ive been focused on something. Like Ive been working towards getting sources.txt sources_tmx.txt done.”
“Thats a working mans beard right there, quipped Jason, who has a full beard of his own.
Travis said he could feel the power of the beard, and said it has helped him win games. “Ive been playing way better since Ive been growing it,” he said.
