Fans flooded the streets of Denver to celebrate after the Nuggets won their first NBA championship Monday night, defeating the Miami Heat 94–89 in Game 5.
A video shared by Twitter user @CymphoniesMusiq shows one fan doing pull-ups on a traffic light bar in downtown Denver over a crowd gathered in the streets. After hanging there for a moment, the person drops several feet into the crowd below.
A shooting took place on the 2000 Block of Market Street during the celebrations early Tuesday, leaving nine victims and one suspect injured, according to the Denver Police Department. Three of the victims were in critical condition, police said.
This is a complex, ongoing investigation in its early stages. Preliminary info indicates multiple shots were fired during an altercation involving several individuals,” police tweeted after the shooting. Multiple individuals were detained, and one suspect was taken into custody.
Matt Clark, commander of the Major Crimes Division, said in a press conference later Tuesday that a motive is still under investigation, but that there “appears to be a drug nexus” with fentanyl recovered from the suspect. He also said that police are investigating whether some of the injured individuals were responsible for shooting.
