The Chick-fil-A employee recently hailed as a hero for halting a carjacking threw out the first pitch Thursday for game two of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos playoff series against the Montgomery Biscuits. Photos shared by the Wahoos show that Mykel Gordon also got a jersey with his name and the number 1. Gordon was woking at Chick-fil-A in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., on Sept. 14 when he heard a woman outside screaming, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriffs Office. The woman was getting a baby out of her car when 43-year-old William Branch, wielding a stick, demanded her keys, the sheriffs office said. Branch allegedly grabbed her keys and got into the vehicle. Gordon rushed out of the restaurant and intervened. Branch was arrested and charged with carjacking with a weapon and battery. Sheriff Eric Aden and members of the OCSO gave Gordon a special coin and an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Community Service Award as thanks for his quick action and bravery.
