Fans of Welsh football club Wrexham sang to team co-owner Rob McElhenney from the stands at the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham, Wales.
A video shared Tuesday by @fearlessidzine on Twitter shows crowds in the stands singing the song.
“@RMcElhenney enjoying the first Cae Ras airing of ‘It’s McElhenney’ featuring a certain @VancityReynolds,” they tweeted alongside the video. Y Cae Ras is the Welsh name for the Racecourse Ground.
The song, “Its McElhenney,” was debuted by team co-owner and fellow actor Ryan Reynolds in honor of the “Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia” stars recent birthday. The lyrics teach the correct pronunciation of McElhenneys name: “Its McElhenney, McElhenney, the ways to massacre and mispronounce it there are many. McElhenney, its McElhenney, if there was doubt, now there wont be any, its McElhenney.”
The cast of “Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia” was on hand to celebrate when Wrexham defeated Yeovil Town 3–0 on Monday.
The victory brings Wrexham one win away from promotion to the English Football League from the National League.
If Wrexham beats Boreham Wood on Saturday, they will rejoin the EFL for the first time since 2008. If not, the team will have another chance to win against Torquay United on April 29.
