A thunderstorm delayed the baseball game between the New York Mets and the Washington Nationals at New Yorks Citi Field Thursday night.
A video shared by Twitter user @juancarlosfca shows fans taking shelter amid a torrential downpour at Citi Field in Queens Thursday night.
The threat of lightning stopped play in the bottom of the eighth inning with the bases loaded. The game resumed after a delay of about an hour and a half.
The area was under a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The agency warned of damaging winds along with possible hail.
The Mets beat the Nationals 2–1. The teams face off again Friday evening at Citi Field.
