Dr. Anthony Fauci threw the ceremonial first pitch for the game between the Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees at T-Mobile Park in Seattle on Tuesday, and received boos from the stands.

Fauci, President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser and the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, was presented with an honorary Hutch Award before the game.
The award was created in 1965 after MLB pitcher and manager Fred Hutchison died from lung cancer. Since then, the award is given to an MLB player each year who exemplifies the fighting spirit and competitive desire of Hutchison.
